The Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) was born as an original project for our contry: a university campus. The UAB has all of the characteristics of a small city without forgoing the benefits of a big metropolis: accomodation, catering, green areas, cultural and leisure activities, sports facilities, commercial areas, a kinder garden, a primary and secondary scholl, health service, meeting places, libraries, and study rooms located at the different faculties.

The Campus of the UAB is located in Bellaterra, 25 Km from Barcelona and its airport (El Prat). The Campus occupies a surface area of 230 hectares and is perfectly situated for communication by motorways, roads, bus and train (Metro del Vallés) with the metropolitan area of Barcelona. There are special fares with Easy Jet (from UK to Barcelona)

The Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) is a Catalan public university devoted to research and education. Due to the high level of quality in both fields it has been situated, since its creation in 1968, among the leading national education centres, and has accrued national and international recognition. The UAB participates actively in the co-operation and exchange programmes with other universities, and it is the Spanish university that has more activity at an international level, with a total of 146 agreements with universities from all over the world. At the same time, it has collaboration agreements with more than 160 companies and institutions.

At he UAB, studies corresponding to the four areas of knowledge are taught: health sciences, experimental sciences and technology, human sciences and social sciences. It has 11 Faculties, 2 Assigned university schools and 4 Linked university schools. Nowadays, 70 doctorate programmes, 35 masters and 54 postgraduate programmes are teaching.
