Barcelona has been transformed into the traditional gateway to Spain. Its strategic situation, close to the French boarder and openness to the Mediterranean, has enriched Barcelona with different cultures that, through the centuries has left its imprint on the city.

From the XIX Century, Barcelona experienced huge growth from an economic and urban point of view. This has favoured the harmonious coexistence of nuclei such as the Gothic quarter, constructed around the ancient Roman city walls; the Rambla, traditional space of street life; markets, modernist buildings and universities, with new communication networks, service and business zones, buildings of modern construction and new leisure spaces. Barcelona has a nice climate practically throughout the year.
